Renting in Porto Vecchio

Rent a villa or apartment in Porto Vecchio with AEC Collection

Porto Vecchio unfolds across three levels. At the top, the old town clings to the former Genoese citadel, with its cobbled alleyways, the Place de la République and the Bastion of France overlooking the harbour. Below, the marina opens onto a 9km gulf where yachts pass fishing boats. All around, the coastline reveals some of Corsica’s finest beaches: Palombaggia with its stone pines set on pale sand, Santa Giulia and its sheltered bay with shallow waters, the creeks of Cala Rossa towards the Benedettu peninsula, and finally La Rondinara, shell-shaped, midway between here and Bonifacio.

Choosing your neighbourhood is choosing your pace. The upper town to live in the heart of activity, steps from terraces and shops. The waterfront at Palombaggia, Santa Giulia or Benedettu, to open your door onto sand and swim at dawn. The Ospedale hinterland at 900m altitude for the coolness of laricio pines and sweeping views over the gulf. A villa with pool, set back a little, for the privacy of a large garden facing the sea. Tell us how you spend your holidays, and we will guide you to the right neighbourhood. Stays are booked by the week, the calendar and availability shown are current, and booking is made online.

The spirit of Porto Vecchio

The city of salt, between gulf and mountain

Few places bring together a postcard-perfect beach and a mountain forest in less than an hour.

Porto Vecchio, Portivechju in Corsican, was born from a pink porphyry rock where the Genoese placed their citadel in 1539. It is nicknamed the city of salt, in memory of the salt marshes established at the mouth of the Stabiacciu, which long ensured its prosperity. From this past, the upper town has retained its ramparts, bastions and small shaded squares where one takes time in the evening.

But the spirit of the place lies above all in this striking contrast of landscapes. The gulf stretches for kilometres of sand and pink granite, whilst the Alta Rocca hinterland climbs towards the Bavella peaks and the Ospedale forests. You can swim and hike on the same day, moving from turquoise blue to the deep green of pines. Our villas and apartments are chosen for their location, views and this rare proximity between sea and mountain.

Through the seasons

From blazing summer to the restored calm of the hinterland

Height of summer

In summer, everything revolves around the water. Beach after beach: Palombaggia in the early morning before the crowds, Santa Giulia for its calm waters, the more secluded creeks of Cala Rossa accessible on foot. The gulf is explored by boat, the marina comes alive as night falls, and the upper town is abuzz on its terraces into the evening. This is high season, chic and sun-drenched, of large gatherings and swimming at sunset.

Shoulder season

In spring and autumn, Porto Vecchio regains its calm and lets the hinterland speak. This is walking season: the climb to the Ospedale lake, the Piscia di Gallo waterfall, the Trou de la Bombe at the foot of the Bavella peaks. The sea remains mild, the beaches empty, and villages of the Alta Rocca like Zonza reopen their terraces. An ideal time for walking, wandering through the citadel and lingering over a fine meal.

Frequently asked questions

Renting in Porto Vecchio: what we are asked

Which area to choose in Porto Vecchio?

It depends on what you want. The upper town and its alleyways for activity and proximity to shops, the waterfront at Palombaggia, Santa Giulia or Cala Rossa to live with sand at your feet, the Ospedale hinterland for coolness and sweeping views over the gulf. Tell us your plans, and we will guide you to the right location.

Can you rent a villa with pool close to the beaches?

Yes. Part of our selection combines villa with pool and quick access to the coast, particularly near Palombaggia, Santa Giulia and the Benedettu peninsula. The most sought-after properties sell early for high season: it is wise to plan ahead.

What is the best time for a stay in Porto Vecchio?

July and August offer full beach season, warm sea and lively atmosphere, but also the most crowds. June and September remain very pleasant, with a still-agreeable sea and quieter beaches. Spring and autumn suit those who wish to hike in the Alta Rocca and discover the citadel in peace.

How does booking work?

Stays are booked by the week, Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday depending on the property. You select your week on the calendar, send your request, and our team confirms availability. Booking is done online, with secure payment and the option to spread costs.

What capacity for a family or group?

Our selection ranges from apartments for a few to large villas for a whole party. For a large group or specific request, get in touch: we also work with off-market properties.

How does arrival on site work?

You are welcomed by a local partner agency present on site, who carries out the inventory and provides you with practical information. For certain properties, self-arrival can be arranged on request.

« In Porto Vecchio, location is everything. We choose each property to exacting standards of quality, for views, peace and proximity to the sea. »
