In Porticcio, everything unfolds along the southern shore of the Gulf of Ajaccio. The heart of the resort beats around Viva beach, lined with shops and restaurants, facing the city of Ajaccio across the bay. Moving south, beaches succeed one another: the expansive Agosta, favoured by regulars, then Stagnola, Isolella and Ruppione with its gentle slope, before the wilder stretches of Mare e Sole. Behind the shoreline, the Isolella peninsula and the heights of Grosseto-Prugna open onto a hinterland of hills and villages, extending to the Prunelli valley.

The right location depends on how you spend your holidays. For animation and direct access to the beaches, choose the Viva and Agosta area, just steps from the sea. For peace and coves, settle on the Isolella peninsula or towards Ruppione, which are more private. For views, a villa with a pool in the heights overlooks the gulf and its sunsets towards the Sanguinaires. Tell us how you spend your holidays, and we shall guide you to the right neighbourhood. Stays are booked by the week, the calendar and availability shown are accurate, and booking is done online.

The spirit of Porticcio

A southern shore facing the imperial city

Porticcio looks towards Ajaccio across the water: the sea ahead, the mountains behind, and that particular light of the gulf at dusk.

Once a simple shepherd village, Porticcio became a seaside resort on the southern shore whilst losing nothing of its character. People come for the quality of life, the clear sand and the panoramic view of Ajaccio, which can moreover be reached by maritime shuttles connecting the jetty to the port year-round. Offshore, the rocks of Sette Nave stand watch, and on the Isolella peninsula, a Genoese tower built in 1608 still dominates the coves and the entire gulf.

The landscape lies in this contrast: on one side a succession of beaches and coves, on the other the Grosseto-Prugna hills rising towards the Prunelli valley and its perched villages. This is a family-oriented, seaside Corsica, close to everything yet unspoilt. Our villas and apartments are selected here for location, views and proximity to the sea.

Through the seasons

A seaside summer, shoulder seasons of quiet

High summer

In peak season, life concentrates on the sand. Days unfold between Viva and Agosta, children are introduced to paddleboarding on the gentle slope of Ruppione, also popular with surfers, and you head to Mare e Sole, wilder and less crowded, for a swim offshore. The clear waters of Isolella’s coves are perfect for snorkelling, and evenings linger facing the sunset over Ajaccio.

Shoulder seasons

In spring and autumn, warmth returns and the hinterland takes the lead. Follow the coastal path to the Isolella tower, walk a stage of the Mare e Monti Sud, venture up to the Prunelli gorges, Lake Tolla and Bastelica, the valley’s highest village. Heritage, restaurants and coves are rediscovered in tranquillity, once the high season has passed.

Frequently asked questions

Renting in Porticcio: what people ask us

Which part of Porticcio should I choose?

For animation and direct beach access, opt for the centre of the resort, around Viva and Agosta. For more peace and quiet, the Isolella peninsula and the Ruppione area offer more private coves. For views, the heights of Grosseto-Prugna overlook the gulf. Tell us what you are looking for, and we shall guide you to the right location.

Can I rent a villa with a pool and sea views?

Yes. Part of our selection combines villas with pools and views over the Gulf of Ajaccio, often in the heights of the southern shore, a few minutes from the beaches. For more direct beach access, we also have properties close to the shoreline. Specify your priorities, and we shall adjust the selection.

What is the best time for a stay in Porticcio?

High summer, from June to September, offers full seaside life, warm seas and long beach days. Spring and autumn are milder and quieter, perfect for the hinterland, coastal paths and heritage, with coves to discover away from the crowds.
