Les Deux Alpes stretches across a long high-altitude plateau, between 1650m and 1800m, along the avenue de la Muzelle, a pedestrian thoroughfare where shops, restaurants and lift access converge. At the heart of the resort, life unfolds on skis and everything is within walking distance: this appeals to those who value liveliness and immediate access to the slopes. Towards Les Demoiselles and the heights of Alpe de Venosc, the pace slows, views open onto the valley and glacier, just a few minutes from the centre.
For greater character, two villages stand watch below. Venosc, perched at 960m on the banks of the Vénéon, connects to the resort by cable car in a few minutes: its cobbled streets and artisan workshops make it an ideal base at the gateway to the Écrins. Mont-de-Lans, which has remained peaceful with its museum and market, preserves the soul of a true mountain village, equally well connected to the domain. Great skiing, from village to glacier
Here, skiing runs from November to May, and the glacier extends the season further when snow has already retreated elsewhere.
Born from the meeting of two villages, Venosc and Mont-de-Lans, nearly a century ago, the resort has grown whilst retaining a frank, sporty and unpretentious identity. It is loved for this relaxed energy, the youthful spirit that animates the avenue de la Muzelle on the return from the slopes, and for a domain that climbs uninterrupted from the village at 1650m to the Dôme de la Lauze at 3568m, on Europe’s largest skiable glacier.
This altitude makes all the difference: it guarantees snow throughout the winter and offers, from the height of the glacier, panoramas that extend to the peaks of the Écrins. A few passes away, La Grave stands watch, the cathedral of off-piste skiing that experienced skiers reach for a day’s outing. Our chalets and apartments are chosen here for their location, views and direct access to the slopes.
Two mountain seasons, one altitude
Winter
The domain spans from 1650m to 3568m, which ensures snow cover from November to May and one of the longest seasons in the Alps. You can string together wide glacier runs, long descents that bring you back to the resort, and more technical routes in the upper sectors. Beginners and experienced skiers alike will find their terrain here, with the certainty of snow through spring.
Summer
Come summer, the resort becomes one of the largest mountain-biking parks in the Alps: the bike park runs from the glacier, at around 3200m, down to the village of Venosc, and hosts legendary races such as the Mountain of Hell. Nearby, hiking trails lead into the Vénéon valley and the Écrins National Park. On the glacier, summer skiing opens for a few weeks, from spring through early summer, mornings only.

Is snow assured at Les Deux Alpes?
It is one of the resort’s major strengths. Thanks to the glacier, which rises to 3568m, snow is assured at the top of the domain from November to May, making it one of the longest seasons in the French Alps. Even at the beginning and end of winter, the higher slopes remain skiable.
Is Les Deux Alpes worth a summer visit?
Absolutely, for those who love active mountain pursuits. The resort is home to one of the largest bike parks in the Alps, running from the glacier to the village of Venosc, and serves as a gateway to the Vénéon valley and Écrins National Park for hiking. On the glacier, summer skiing opens for a few weeks in the mornings, from spring through early summer. The Venosc cable car makes it easy to move between the village and the heights.
How does booking work?
Stays are booked by the week, Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday depending on the property. You select your week on the calendar, submit your request, and our team confirms availability. Booking is completed online, with secure payment and the option to pay in instalments.
What capacity for a family or group?
Our selection ranges from apartments for a few people to large chalets for the whole party. For a large group or specific request, write to us: we also arrange bespoke stays with off-market properties.
How does arrival on site work?
You are welcomed by a local partner agency on site, who carries out the property handover and provides practical information. For certain properties, autonomous arrival can be arranged on request.
