Val d'Isère Aquasports Centre: 5000m² year-round facilities
At 1850 metres, in the heart of Val d’Isère, the Aquasports Centre occupies 5000 square metres at the foot of the Bellevarde Face. It is one of the rare French municipal facilities that combines under one roof two pools, a wellness area, a climbing wall, indoor courts for five sports and a tea room. It was conceived for days without skiing, those twenty-four hours when snow falls too heavily or not at all, and the resort turns to its covered buildings.
The facility is open year-round, including out of season. It is managed directly by the Val d’Isère municipality under a public service delegation agreement.
Two pools, two uses
The sports pool measures 25 metres across six lanes, depth 1.40 to 1.80m. This is the pool used for lengths, group classes and club training camps. Temperature is maintained at 28°C. Alongside, the leisure pool covers 416m² with a counter-current river course, water cannons, shoulder jet massages, bubble benches and a children’s paddling area. Water at 30°C, flat bottom 1.10m.
Both pools extend onto a shared tiled beach area. An upstairs solarium provides natural light when afternoon sun reaches through the windows, in winter around 14:00-15:00.
The wellness area
Apart from the pools, the relaxation area contains a Finnish sauna, a tiled hammam at 45°C, a bubble bath and several sensory showers. Access is available separately or in addition to a pool ticket. Treatment cabins (massages, facials, exfoliations) are operated by independent practitioners; bookings are made through the centre’s reception.
Other activities
A climbing wall on two levels offers around twenty routes graded 4a to 7b, with coaching on request. The indoor multi-sport area (540m², sports floor) hosts badminton, pickleball, table tennis, five-a-side football, basketball and volleyball. Booking by one-hour slots.
More unexpectedly: two golf simulators allow play on around ten virtual courses (Pebble Beach, Augusta, etc.) with professional training equipment. Appreciated by residents who combine skiing in the morning and golf in the afternoon, or who wish to fill a day of poor weather.
The tea room and bar
On the ground floor, a tea room opening onto the street. Short menus: pastries, salads, daily specials. The room is bright and air-conditioned in summer. The water bar (waters of the world) at pool level remains uncommon in the mountains: an opportunity to sample fifteen different still and sparkling mineral waters.

Address: village centre, rue des Skieurs. Free multi-storey parking 100 metres away. Open every day from 10:00 to 21:00 in high winter season, 12:00-20:00 in shoulder season. Adult pool rate around €13, multi-activity tickets available. Chalets and hotels in the village sometimes include access cards in accommodation packages.
When to visit
Days of poor weather (heavy snowfall, fog, wind above 60km/h). Late arrivals, on the first day, when you have not yet collected your ski equipment. Late afternoons, when legs are tiring but you wish to continue moving. In summer, it is the main family entertainment facility in Val d’Isère.
