Les Arcs is not one address but several: the resort spans four villages, named by their altitude, each with its own character. Arc 1600, the first, retains a hushed, wooded character, nestled just above the valley at the funicular’s arrival. Arc 1800, the liveliest, lines shops, terraces and restaurants beneath the larches, steps from the pistes. Arc 1950 is a pedestrian village conceived as one entity, with carefully designed residences and wellness spaces where you can put on your skis at the building’s foot. Arc 2000, the highest, aims for lasting snow and direct access to altitude slopes, at the base of Aiguille Rouge.
Each has its own quarter, depending on how you like to ski and spend your evenings. Choose Arc 1600 for calm and proximity to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Arc 1800 for atmosphere and restaurant choice, Arc 1950 for the comfort of a car-free village where everything is on foot, Arc 2000 for snow and steep descents from your bed. A resort designed as a manifesto
Here, architecture does not dominate the mountain: it lies within it.
From 1967 to 1989, Charlotte Perriand guided the birth of Les Arcs as a whole: urban planning, buildings and interiors conceived together. Rather than erecting towers, she made buildings follow the slope’s line, so that thousands of dwellings seem absorbed into the mountainside. Large bay windows frame the valley, volumes tilt with the terrain, wood and concrete converse without ostentation.
This ambition had a social meaning: to make the high mountains accessible without surrendering to rigorous design. Half a century later, the signature remains legible, from Arc 1600 to Arc 1800, and gives the resort a rare coherence. Our chalets and apartments are chosen for location, views and faithfulness to this alpine spirit, as close as possible to the pistes.
Two seasons, one mountainside
Winter
Les Arcs opens onto the Paradiski, 425km of linked pistes connected to La Plagne via the Vanoise Express, a two-deck cable car crossing the Ponthurin valley in minutes. The domain suits all: gentle slopes and forests for progress, long altitude descents for skilled skiers, including the famous Aiguille Rouge which plunges from the summit at 3226m down to Villaroger, over 2000m of vertical drop in one go. In the evening, après-ski happens mainly at Arc 1800, with terraces and restaurants beneath the larches.
Summer
The mountain is walked and cycled: approximately 350km of marked trails and a mountain-bike network connected to La Plagne, served by a handful of lifts open to both walkers and cyclists. Ascend to the Aiguille Rouge viewpoint for panoramas over Vanoise, picnic on the Varet terrace towards 2700m, try paragliding or zip-lining. Below, Bourg-Saint-Maurice adds its white water and easy access by rail.

Which village to choose between Arc 1600, 1800, 1950 and 2000?
It depends on your pace. Arc 1600 for calm and proximity to the valley, Arc 1800 for animation and restaurants, Arc 1950 for a comfortable car-free pedestrian village, Arc 2000 for altitude snow and access to major pistes. Tell us your priority, and our team will guide you to the right area.
How do you reach the resort from Bourg-Saint-Maurice?
From Bourg-Saint-Maurice, the Arc-en-Ciel funicular reaches Arc 1600 in seven minutes, then shuttles serve the altitude villages. With Bourg-Saint-Maurice linked by train, you can arrive without a car, right to the foot of the pistes.
Is Les Arcs worth a summer stay?
Yes. The mountain is discovered on foot or by mountain bike, with approximately 350km of marked trails and routes linked to La Plagne. Ascend to the Aiguille Rouge viewpoint for Vanoise panoramas, and the resort remains quiet and bright, ideal for an open-air stay.
How does booking work?
Stays are booked by the week, Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday depending on the property. You select your week on the calendar, send your request, and our team confirms availability. Booking is done online, with secure payment and the option to pay in instalments.
What capacity for a family or group?
Our selection ranges from apartments for a few to large chalets for the whole clan. For a large group or specific request, write to us: we also compose with off-market properties.
How does arrival on site work?
You are welcomed by a local partner agency on site, who carries out the inventory and provides you with practical information. For certain properties, independent arrival can be arranged on request.
