The capital of alpinism, the heart of the Alps
Chamonix has never needed to reinvent itself. For two centuries, the world has come here for one reason: the highest peak in the Alps, rising just above the rooftops.
Birthplace of alpinism and stage for the first altitude tourism, Chamonix is a true mountain town, crossed by the Arve river, where Belle Époque façades recall winters passed here before skiing existed. Cosmopolitan and vibrant, it brings together mountaineers returning from expeditions, families settled year-round and international clientele loyal for generations.
This blend is what appeals to us. Our chalets and apartments for rent here are chosen for the rightness of their location, the view, and that rare ability to make you forget the bustle of the centre as soon as you close the door.
An active valley, summer and winter
Winter
Major skiing happens at the Grands Montets, above Argentière, and on the south-facing slopes of Brévent and Flégère, facing Mont-Blanc. Non-skiers have their own programme: Aiguille du Midi, spas, shops and long tables.
Summer
When heat bears down on the cities, the valley remains an altitude refuge: take the lifts to find cool air and sunshine at higher elevations. Alpine walks to Lac Blanc, downhill mountain biking, via ferrata and climbing, paragliding from Planpraz, golf beneath the Drus, pools and spas for gentle afternoons. It is the favourite season for those who truly know Chamonix.
Renting in Chamonix: what people ask us
Which hamlet to choose for a stay in Chamonix?
The centre if you want to do everything on foot, restaurants and cable car included. Les Praz and Les Bois for a calm stay within walking distance of the centre, an ideal location for golf and Flégère. Argentière for skiers heading to the Grands Montets. Les Bossons and Les Houches, more residential, for families.
Is Chamonix worth a summer visit?
It is one of the rare alpine destinations as lively in summer as in winter. When the heat sets in down below, you head up to find cool air and sunshine at altitude: Aiguille du Midi, Mer de Glace, walks, mountain biking, climbing, pool and spa. Many of our clients prefer it in the off-season.
How does booking work?
Stays are booked by the week, Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday depending on the property. You select your week on the calendar, submit your request, and our team confirms availability. Booking is done online, with secure payment and the option to pay in instalments.
What capacity for a group or large party?
The Chamonix selection ranges from apartments for a few guests to large chalets, up to 16 people for the largest in our collection. For a very large group, write to us: we also compose with off-market properties.
Is the resort tax included?
The resort tax is payable as a supplement, according to the terms of each property. The amount is given to you when your booking is confirmed.
How does arrival on site work?
You are welcomed by a local partner agency present on site, who carries out the inventory and passes on practical information to you. For certain properties, independent arrival can be arranged on request.
