The best-kept secret of Haute-Tarentaise
Surrounded by giants, Val d’Isère, Tignes, Les Arcs, Sainte-Foy has chosen the opposite path: small, wild, unspoilt. Those who know it speak of it only in whispers.
The domain amounts to a handful of runs, north-west facing, renowned for the exceptional quality of their snow. This has made it, for the past twenty years, a haven for freeriders: below the lift stations lie off-piste itineraries that have become legendary, to be explored with a guide. Here, no queues, no glitzy resort frontage, only the mountain and space.
The rest lies in its setting. Stone, wood and slate hamlets, the columned houses of Le Miroir built by Piedmontese stonemasons, the listed hamlet of Monal frozen facing Mont Pourri: Sainte-Foy has preserved an authenticity that the major resorts exchanged for concrete. Our chalets and apartments are selected for this rightness, location and views.
A mountain for connoisseurs, winter and summer
Winter
A resort of human scale, exceptional snow and above all off-piste skiing, which has built Sainte-Foy’s reputation, always accompanied. For others, wide and quiet runs, ski touring from the hamlets, snowshoeing through the forests and hearty Savoyard meals on return.
Summer
The walk up to the Monal hamlet, a listed site facing Mont Pourri and its glaciers, remains one of Tarentaise’s finest hikes. Around it, alpine pastures, mountain lakes and a tranquillity found nowhere else. A destination for walking, breathing and reconnecting, away from crowds.
