Renting in La Plagne

Rent a chalet or apartment in La Plagne with AEC Collection

La Plagne is not a single address: it is a constellation of villages, altitude stations perched above 1800m and chalet hamlets that have retained their Savoyard character in the lower valleys. At altitude, Plagne Centre concentrates shops and services, Belle Plagne cultivates atmosphere and ski-to-door access, Plagne Bellecôte opens onto the glacier, whilst Aime-la-Plagne and Plagne 1800 stand slightly apart, quieter still. Below, Montchavin-Les Coches and Champagny-en-Vanoise have kept their stone roofs and village heart intact.

The right choice depends on how you ski. To step straight from your door onto the slopes and return by headtorch after the final descent, aim for an altitude station, Belle Plagne or Plagne Soleil above all. To find yourself at evening on a living street, with a church steeple and local cuisine, Champagny-en-Vanoise, facing due south and opening onto the Vanoise National Park, or Montchavin, closest to the Vanoise Express cable car to Les Arcs, offer an entirely different pace. Families, large groups and those seeking calm will each find their place.

The spirit of La Plagne

A resort built for serious skiing

Few resorts embrace their vocation so plainly: here, everything has been conceived for ambitious skiing, across expansive terrain and long days.

Born in the early 1960s under the impetus of the communes of Grande Plagne and guided by champion skier Émile Allais, La Plagne opened its first site, Plagne Centre, in December 1961. Altitude stations rose in subsequent years, before Champagny-en-Vanoise joined the ensemble in 1969. From this history emerged a territory of two faces: the functional, sun-facing architecture of the perched stations, and the stone hamlets of the valleys, with slate roofs.

This duality is the essence of the place. You can spend a morning on the slopes of Bellecôte Glacier, pivot in the afternoon towards Les Arcs via the Vanoise Express, then dine in the evening at a quiet chalet facing the Vanoise Massif. La Plagne is lived thus, at grand scale and never forsaking its mountain roots. Our chalets and apartments are selected for location, view and direct access to the slopes.

Throughout the year

A summit in winter, a balcony in summer

Winter

La Plagne has over 200km of runs of its own and sits within Paradiski, one of the largest linked domains in the Alps, with 425km of descents accessible on a single lift pass. The Vanoise Express, a two-stage cable car, connects La Plagne to Les Arcs in minutes, crossing the valley. Beginners and families enjoy gentle altitude slopes and fun areas, whilst experienced skiers aim for the Bellecôte Glacier sector, its off-piste terrain and one of the domain’s longest runs, nearly 15km down to Montchavin. In the evening, Belle Plagne concentrates the animation.

Summer

In fine weather, the domain becomes vast terrain for hiking and mountain biking, with a bike park and trails leading to alpages, altitude lakes and viewpoints over Mont-Blanc. Champagny-en-Vanoise, gateway to Vanoise National Park, opens onto exceptional walks, from Lac de la Glière to the Cascade du Py. And unique in France, the Olympic bobsleigh run built for the Albertville 1992 Games stands below Plagne 1800, where you can race down its 19 bends in fair weather as in winter.

Frequently asked questions

Renting in La Plagne: what we’re asked

Which La Plagne village should I stay in?

It depends on your priorities. For ski-to-door access and altitude, choose a perched station such as Belle Plagne, Plagne Centre or Plagne Soleil. For the atmosphere of a true Savoyard village, prefer Champagny-en-Vanoise, facing due south, or Montchavin-Les Coches, at the foot of the forests and near the Vanoise Express. We guide you according to your group and preferences.

Is La Plagne really linked to Les Arcs?

Yes. The Vanoise Express cable car spans the valley between La Plagne and Les Arcs, forming the Paradiski domain, 425km of linked runs accessible on a single lift pass. From most La Plagne villages, you reach the cable car directly on skis.

Is La Plagne worth visiting in summer?

Yes. The mountains lend themselves to hiking, mountain biking and trail running, with paths to lakes and alpages and panoramas over Vanoise and Mont-Blanc. Champagny-en-Vanoise provides access to the national park, and the Olympic bobsleigh run can be descended in fair weather too. The lower, greener valley hamlets are particularly pleasant in summer.
