Aquamotion in Courchevel: 15,000m² of indoor wave and climbing wall

By the AEC Collection team Updated on 28 May 2026 3 min read

Aquamotion, at Courchevel Village (1550), is Europe’s largest mountain aquatic centre. 15,000m² comprising pools, indoor wave, climbing wall, diving well and wellness area. It is the valley’s year-round facility, open for skiing or summer, which has redefined the concept of an altitude aquatic centre.

01

15,000m²: what it encompasses

Aquamotion is situated between Courchevel 1650 (Moriond) and Courchevel 1550 (Village). Its central location allows access from all Courchevel villages and La Tania via complimentary shuttle.

The facility combines two main areas:

The recreational aquatic area, open to all, with leisure pools, water slides, wave, diving well and a 12m climbing wall.

The aquawellness area, reserved for adults (18+), with heated pools at 34°C, salt water grotto, saunas and herbal tea room.

Plus:

Fitness space with group classes (aquagym, aquabike, aquaboxing).

Outdoor area in season: 2 beach volleyball courts, mini golf.

On-site dining.

02

The indoor wave

The most distinctive feature of Aquamotion is its indoor wave, among the rare ones in Europe operating year-round and at 1,500m altitude. The wave is bookable by time slot in the afternoon (except Monday and Saturday), particularly favoured by surfers seeking winter training or enthusiasts wishing to learn.

Wave flow and height are adjustable according to surfer level (beginner to advanced).

When to visit

Aquamotion is open year-round, with two peak seasons:

Winter (December to mid-April): influx of skiers recovering après-ski, particularly between 3pm and 7pm.

Summer (June to mid-September): alternative to high mountains on wet days, and complement to family hiking.

To avoid peak times: morning (10am-12pm) or late afternoon (7pm-8pm).

06

Who it’s designed for

Aquamotion targets:

Families with children, particularly young children (paediatric pool, water garden).

Skiers recovering, who combine skiing and wellness as après-ski.
