Staying in the centre means doing everything on foot, returning for lunch between runs and finding the buzz again in the evening. A little higher up, the hamlet of Prodains nestles at the foot of the great cliffs, a few minutes from the Prodains Express cable car which climbs towards Avoriaz: the choice for those wanting peace and direct access to the domain. The Nyon sector, served by its cable car, offers a more discreet entry to the slopes, whilst the nearby lake of Montriond extends the valley towards nature.
The right neighbourhood depends mainly on how you ski and spend your evenings. Looking for atmosphere and walking? The centre. Prefer tranquillity and a route to Avoriaz without detour? A real village, not a stage set
Here, slate is not ornament: it is the very history of the town, carved into the roofs.
Before it was a resort, Morzine was a slate town. In the nineteenth century, the valley had dozens of mines and hundreds of slate workers extracting from schist the great dark stone tiles that still cover the chalets. The Ardoisières valley remains one of the last active quarries in France, and this heritage is visible everywhere: in the roofs that shine after rain, in the stone walls, in a way of building that has resisted mass tourism.
This is what sets Morzine apart: a village genuinely lived in year-round, at the heart of the Chablais massif. You encounter as many Savoyard families as skiers from afar, and life continues around the central square long after the last cable car. Connected to Avoriaz and the vast cross-border Portes du Soleil domain, the town has retained its human scale, its shops and its warmth. Two seasons, one shared playground
Winter
From the town centre, the Super Morzine cable car opens the door to Avoriaz and, beyond it, the Portes du Soleil domain, the first major cross-border Franco-Swiss ski area. Over 600km of slopes link twelve French and Swiss resorts, from one side to the other, without getting back in the car. The Nyon sector and the Prodains cable car add further access points and allow you to vary your itineraries day after day.
Summer
In summer, Morzine becomes one of Europe’s great mountain-biking destinations: its bike park, award-winning several times over, opens onto countless downhill and cross-country trails across the Portes du Soleil. Mountain passes attract cyclists, marked trails attract walkers, and the nearby lake of Montriond, with its emerald waters ringed by cliffs, invites swimming, paddling or simply picnicking.

Can you ski to Avoriaz from Morzine?
Yes. From the town centre, the Super Morzine cable car takes you to Avoriaz and the rest of the Portes du Soleil; from the Prodains hamlet, the Prodains Express cable car gets you there in minutes. You can move from one side of the cross-border domain to the other without getting back in the car.
Is Morzine worth visiting in summer?
Absolutely. Morzine’s bike park, award-winning several times over, gives access to hundreds of kilometres of mountain-bike trails across the Portes du Soleil. Beyond that, the lake of Montriond is perfect for swimming and paddling, the mountain passes attract cyclists and marked trails draw walkers. The village keeps its life and terraces going all summer.

Stays are booked by the week, Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday depending on the property. You select your week on the calendar, send your request, and our team confirms availability. Booking is done online, with secure payment and the option to pay in instalments.
What capacity for a family or group?
Our selection ranges from apartments for a few to large chalets for a whole crowd. For a large group or a specific request, do get in touch: we also arrange bespoke stays with off-market properties.
How does arrival on site work?
You are welcomed by a local partner agency on site, who will conduct the inventory and provide you with practical information. For certain properties, self-check-in can be arranged on request.
