Water between 32 and 34°C, steam rising from the outdoor pool into the cold air, mountain peaks all around: the thermal pool at the Palais offers après-ski in the heart of Megève itself. It shares the complex with two indoor pools open year-round, saunas and a hammam, a spa with its treatment menu, and in summer, an outdoor Olympic pool. Here is how these spaces are organised, opening hours for the 2026-2027 season, age requirements and dress code rules.
The aquatic space in practice
- Location: the Palais de Megève, 247 route du Palais des Sports, in the heart of the village.
- Thermal pool: water between 32 and 34°C, indoors and outdoors; from age 5, and for children under 5 during family time slots, from 10am to 12pm.
- Indoor pools: open year-round; in winter, generally until 7:30pm, and until 9pm on Wednesdays.
- Saunas, hammam and spa: from age 15. The spa must be booked by phone or on-site.
- Dress code: form-fitting Lycra swimsuit, knee-length or longer; shorts and swimming trunks prohibited.
The thermal pool, between 32 and 34°C
The thermal space encompasses 675m² of bathing, indoors and outdoors: swan necks, a counter-current river, massage beds and massage alcoves. Saunas and a hammam complete the facility, and thermal pool entry also grants access to the swimming pool. In autumn, only the indoor section is open.
In winter, opening hours follow the holiday schedule. From 19 December 2026 to 3 January 2027, the thermal pool opens from 10am (2pm on Friday) and closes at 7:30pm, at 7pm on Thursday and at 9pm on Wednesday. From 4 January to 5 February, it opens in the afternoon on weekdays from 2pm, and all day at weekends, from 10am to 7:30pm. During winter holidays, from 6 February to 7 March, it welcomes swimmers every day from 10am. The season extends until 2 May 2027. On Wednesdays, the evening slot runs until 9pm.
Access is open from age 5. Younger children have their own time slot: family time, two hours in the morning, from 10am to 12pm, during which children under 5 can discover the warm water with their parents. Saunas and hammam remain reserved for those aged 15 and over.
Two indoor pools for swimming and play
The indoor pools comprise two stainless steel basins: a 25m by 12.50m pool, 2m deep, for swimming, and a shallow pool of 10m by 16m, ranging from 0.60m to 1.35m deep, dedicated to children, aquagym, aquabike and baby swimming. There is also a fun paddling pool of 75m², featuring a marmot and a cow, for first water play experiences.
During the Christmas and winter holidays, the 25m pool hosts an inflatable structure on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10am to 11:30am: the Aquagames, open from age 6 to children who can swim. Swimming resumes from 12pm onwards. Lifeguards supervise the pools during all opening hours, and children may attend unsupervised from age 8. The Palais also offers group classes in aquagym, aquabike, aquatraining and swimming for adults.
The Palais spa
Distinct from the thermal pool, the Spa wellness and treatment space occupies a setting combining stone and wood. The spa pass, lasting 2 hours, includes a jacuzzi, saunas, hammam, invigorating shower and herbal tea room; a hot bath and cold bath are added during peak season. The treatment menu covers the face, body, manicure and foot care, eye treatments, hair removal, as well as treatments for children and teenagers.
Spa access is available from age 15, in a Lycra swimsuit. During the festive period, from 19 December 2026 to 3 January 2027, it opens daily from 10am to 7:30pm, with closure at 7pm on Thursday and opening at 2pm on Friday. From January to end of March, it is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 7:30pm, and also on Sundays during winter holidays. Booking must be made by phone or on-site only.
In summer, the outdoor Olympic pool
In fine weather, the aquatic space expands outdoors: a 50m by 21m Olympic pool, a heated paddling pool, a water slide with three chutes and an aquatic play area of 300m², with loungers and parasols available for hire. For 2027, opening is announced from 12 June to 12 September, dates still to be confirmed.
Rules and good practices
Only a form-fitting Lycra swimsuit, knee-length or longer, is permitted: shorts and swimming trunks are prohibited. A cap is not compulsory, but long hair must be tied back. The Palais does not hire swimsuits, but vendors offer aquatic equipment, and towels may be hired at reception. Changing rooms have individual code lockers. Pushchairs remain in a designated storage area in the changing rooms; only infant car seats are permitted poolside, where you must wear a swimsuit. The Palais confirms that the thermal pool and indoor pools are wheelchair-accessible independently, with appropriate equipment.
AEC’s recommendation. With a child under 5, time your thermal pool visit for a family slot, in the morning from 10am to 12pm, on days with morning opening. Save the Wednesday evening session, until 9pm, for an adults-only session after your day on the slopes. And pack a Lycra swimsuit: swimming shorts are prohibited in the pools.
Where to stay
The Palais is in the heart of the village: a chalet or apartment in the centre allows you to walk there, robe in hand. The Palais car park is paid, with blue zones nearby. Under the same roof, Megève’s ice rink offers public sessions in the afternoon, to combine before the thermal pool. For the rest of winter, see our guide What to do in Megève in winter and our page on the Megève ski domain. Our agents can guide you according to your group: find our chalets and apartments in Megève.
Your legs still heavy from the day on the slopes, the nape of your neck under a swan neck jet, snow all around the pool: an hour at the thermal bath, and the evening begins gently.
