Aquamotion in Courchevel: 10,500m², indoor surf wave and climbing wall

Updated on 5 October 2026 2 min read

Aquamotion, in Courchevel Village (1550), opened in December 2015, is presented by the municipality as one of Europe’s finest aquatic centres. 10,500m² housing pools, an indoor surf wave, climbing wall, diving basin and wellness area. It is the valley’s year-round facility, open in winter and summer, which has redefined the concept of a high-altitude aquatic centre.

01

10,500m²: what this encompasses

Aquamotion is located in Courchevel Village (1550).

The facility combines two principal zones:

The recreational water area, open to all, with leisure pools, water slides, a surf wave, diving basin and climbing walls of 11m height.

The aquawellness area, reserved for adults (18+), with heated pools at 34°C, salt water grotto, saunas and herbal tea room.

Additionally:

Aquagym classes and supervised activities depending on the season.

Outdoor recreational pool in season.

On-site dining.

02

The indoor surf wave

Aquamotion’s most distinctive feature is its indoor surf wave, one of the few installed at altitude. The wave can be booked by time slot; it is particularly popular with surfers seeking winter training or enthusiasts wishing to learn.

Wave flow and height are adjustable according to the surfer’s level (beginner to advanced).

When to visit

Aquamotion opens for approximately nine months per year, with two peak seasons:

Winter (December to mid-April): busy with skiers recovering after skiing, particularly between 3pm and 7pm.

Summer (June to mid-September): an alternative to high mountain activities on rainy days, and a complement to family hiking.

To avoid peak times: morning (10am, 12pm) or early evening (7pm, 8pm).

06

Who it’s designed for

Aquamotion caters to:

Families with children, particularly young children (children’s pool, aquatic play area).

Skiers recovering, who combine skiing with wellness as part of their après-ski.

Surfers and action sports enthusiasts, for the unique indoor wave at altitude.

Couples, for aquawellness packages (massages, saunas).
